First His Name Was Jason DVD Review

Fangoria have the first review of the jam-packed His Name Was Jason DVD and you can read it right here.

The first disc offers the docu, plus a collection of bonus interviews called The Men Behind the Mask. Here, fans get brief chats with every gent who ever played you-know-who (yes, the Steve Daskawisz/Warrington Gillette and FREDDY VS. JASON controversies are addressed). Disc two…whoa boy. Final Cuts are bonus interviews with all the directors (except Miner and Yu)—very cool for providing quite a few frank, earnest, weird and remorseful confessions. From Script to Screen offers more additional chats with writers including the first film’s Victor Miller, FINAL CHAPTER’s Barney Cohen, JASON X’s Todd Farmer and FVJ/remake scribes Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. Listening to the latter two try to explain what the upcoming FRIDAY flick “is” is fascinating: not a remake, not a reimagining, not a reboot, could be a sequel…whew. Dragged from the Lake includes random thoughts, memories and stories from all involved—the most harrowing of which is original heroine Adrienne King’s tale of a stalker that caused serious problems for her for many years. Fan Films is a series of just that—some of which are really cute, some of which are damn funny. Fans of on-line weirdness such as the Angry Nintendo Nerd and the 30-Seconds Bunnies are in for a pleasant surprise.

  1. Splatter Edition OK? Just another Friday the 13th box set. But, this time shorter with 2 dics, more damn interviews, no uncut gore scenes and a feature promo for the new film. Hope this is not a waste of money and time on thier behalf.

  2. just thought everyone would like to see the new jason figure

  3. i also found this and thought u guys would like to read it

While browsing around on the IMDB page of Warner Bros. upcoming remake of Friday the 13th I noticed something intriguing. On the site they credit Nana Visitor as the actress who plays Pamela Voorhees (Jason’s mother who is beheaded in the original) and Kathleen Garrett as “Jason’s Mother”. We made a few phone calls and learned that there are in fact two people playing Pamela Voorhees, and here’s how. Visitor - who was the first cast - stars in the actual film at Ms. Voorhees, while Garrett shared her voice as Jason’s anger-filled mama in the full trailer that’s been online the past few months. Hope that clears the air. You can see Visitor in action when FRIDAY hits theaters February 13th, 2024.

  4. YeahI read the review at Fango’s site. Can’t wait for it. I’ll order it sometime next mnth for my monthly order at DeepDiscount.com.

” This game has no logic right and left have no meaning because this game is so good. Who needs logic? Logic is for pussies!”
HAHAHA for this reason alone i will buy 13 copies!

  6. This is looking sweeter and sweeter by the minute. I’m especially looking forward to the Men Behind The Mask-featurette and seeing all the leading ladies again. I doubt Steve Miner would have that much to say about it anyway, read Crystal Lake Memories and you get a pretty clear idea of his take on things.

  7. I pre-ordered the three new deluxe editions, His Name and the new My Bloody Valentine edition from deepdiscount. And to celebrate a 90-minute thrillride of headaches, I put together these.

  10. I don’t see how this can be bad, it just has way too much content. I think every fen will like at least something.

  11. The Blu Ray version has way more stuff than the standard DVD. That sucks. • “Secrets Galore Behind the Gore”
    • “The Friday the 13th Chronicles”

  12. Oh and the figure looks bad ass. I wonder if the masks come off or is it just changing the heads?

  13. damn i wanna blu ray now…

  14. IDK. It doesn’t look like those 2 extra features on Blu Ray are anything different that we haven’t seen or heard before. I’ll be fine w/ the standard DVD releases and of course the His Name was Jason.

  15. The figure’s head prolly comes off to switch between the mask and the sack head…I really like the new figure…Cant wait..

Oh and for the 2 disc doc and the new realeases - I think it’s worth it just to finally see part 3 in 3D!!

  16. I picked up His Name is Jason along with the standard def DVD of the deluxe edition of the uncut version of Part 1.

I got His Name is Jason for only 9.98 at the local Wal-Mart where I live and they had the uncut version of part one for only 13 dollars for the standard def.

I have had the F13th box set for quite some and only picked up the uncut part one to have it uncut and all the extras for that one aren’t on the box set. There is hardly any extra stuff on the “deluxe” editions of parts 2 & 3 and I’ve read that the 3-D glasses really don’t work that well for part 3 anyway.

While we’ve heard a lot of the stories on His Name is Jason many times, never have they been put in as classy of a package as this set. Highly recommended for slasher fans and of just F13th in particular. Tom Savini rules!
