At risk of being "the odd man out"- I hated the reboot. I guess the fundimental reason for me is that, I grew up with the originals coming out every yr on vhs. Allthough, some were not as good as others.. I"m thinking 5,7 and 8. With these films, you grew to have a certain "expectation" - you knew the drill, you knew a certain "formula" that the film would remain faithful to.
Maybe I'm getting old/er and a bit cynical- but I liked my movies- just the way they were- a time capsual from an era when slasher films looked up to the friday franchise as their own benchmark. I also understand the reboot is paying homage to the 1st 4 parts.. I thought the direction change.. eg hillbilly jason and his tunnells.. was way off..(see above comment bout getting old and whinging)- for me a big departure from the storylines of old. Perhaps the writers went down the path of part 3..and wanted to humanise jason more.. I understand that.. I just did'nt like it.
I also fully understand the writers bringing jason, to a new crowd- a new generation, i just think they could have delved into the history a bit more.Ok guys enough of me pissing and moaning.. just putting my 2 cents worth in..
I agree with you on this. I think the only part of the new movie that I really dug was the fact that Jason moved along...I did enjoy watching him get from point A to point B quickly! However, the kidnapping didn't work for me at all...I had issues with that. I read the other posts from the people who really liked the movie and I can see the "humaine" side of things, and I agree that it was a different spin, I just don't think of Jason like that...he kills people!
I'm glad I saw it, and I do see where they were going with it...and I did watch it again after it hit the TV, but I will probably not watch it again...unlike Part II...which I watched last night!
