Biography: Rex Everhart was born in Watseka, Illinois, the son of Arthur and Jeanette Everhart. In 1969, Rex Everhart took over the role of 'Benjamin Franklin' in the original Broadway production of 1776 after the original actor (Howard Da Silva) suffered a heart attack. Mr. Everhart also appears on the original cast recording of this musical.

In 1978, he was nominated for a "Best Actor" Tony Award for his performance in the Broadway musical "Working." More recently he provided the voice for Maurice, Belle's father, in the animated movie Beauty and the Beast.
