Description

Two months after the events of the original, Alice, the sole survivor of the Camp Crystal Lake massacre, is trying to pick up the pieces of her life. But when she opens the refrigerator door to find Mrs. Voorhees' severed head, an unseen assailant stabs her through the temple with an icepick.

Five years later, Paul Holt opens a Counselor Training Center at Packanack Lodge, adjacent to the now-defunct Camp Crystal Lake. Crazy Ralph again tries to warn of the coming danger, but is again ignored. Around the campfire, the counselors are told to ignore the local lore that Jason Voorhees, whose mother was responsible for the earlier murder spree, is alive. Crazy Ralph watches Paul and Ginny in her cabin, and is strangled with barbed wire by the killer.

The next day, two of the counselors, Sandra and Jeff, slip away to the off-limits Camp Crystal Lake and are caught and escorted back to the Center by a police officer. On the way out, a figure darts in front of the officer's car and into Camp Crystal Lake. In pursuit, the officer discovers a ramshackle cabin and is killed with a hammer to the back of the head.

That evening, most of the counselors go to a local bar, leaving six behind - Sandra and Jeff, Scott and Terry and Vickie and Mark. Scott spies on the skinny-dipping Terry, but when he tries to get away with her clothes he's caught in a rope trap. Terry leaves to get a knife, only to discover Scott's throat has been slit before her return. Terry runs back to camp, only to be killed herself.

Back at the bar, Paul, Ginny and Ted discuss the legend of Jason Voorhees and what he would be like if still alive. Ginny guesses he would have seen his mother decapitated by Alice, and that seeing the only person who had ever loved him killed would leave an indelible mark.

When Vickie leaves the wheelchair-bound Mark is killed with a machete. Sandra and Jeff are impaled together with a spear while having sex, and the killer -- now revealed as the bag-wearing Jason Voorhees -- murders Vickie as well.

Paul and Ginny return to the camp, and after finding the lodge empty, Paul is attacked by Jason. Ginny flees through the woods, finally coming to Jason's shack, now filled with the bodies of the dead counselors. Seeing Mrs. Voorhees' severed head and sweater on Jason's makeshift altar, Ginny puts on the sweater and readies herself for the final confrontation. . .

Driving Directions to New Preston, CT

After the success of the first Friday the 13th film, the producers were eager to make a sequel. The Litchfield County area of Connecticut was chosen as the location for Friday the 13th Part 2. The towns of New Preston and Kent are on the West side of the state, near the New York border.

The Casino

The casino where the counselors go to party was located on West Shore Road, in New Preston. It burned down over 20 years ago, only a few years after filming. It is now a private residential property.

Laurel Lodge

This 2-level structure was built in 1915, originally as a hunting lodge and was named the 'Sassacus Hunting Lodge' in 1936. Jack Baum was the founder. In April of 1955, the lodge was renamed the 'Bromica Lodge'. The Laurel Lodge was the main building used by the counselors, and can be seen in several shots throughout the movie.

Unfortunately, the site was raised in late 2024 after a buyer paid 3.3 million dollars for it's 45 acres. The cabins and their foundations have been almost completely demolished.

CONTINUITY

Something changes that shouldn't. Usually simple errors, such as an appearing/disappearing object in subsequent shots.

When Scott hits Terri in the ass with the slingshot, he hits her in the lower back, but she grabs her left butt cheek.

The policeman leaves his car in the middle of the road when he gets out to chase Jason, but when Ginny and Paul come back that night, Jason sure has done a good job of hiding a bright white police car in the dark woods.

When Scott is dancing with Muffin, his shirt collar is up on the close-up shots, but changes to down in the shot through the window.

After Terri takes off all her clothes, she is shown walking slowly into the lake. Her hair appears to already be wet even though she hasn't gone in the water yet.

In the moment before Scott's throat is slit, we can see the sharp end of the machete going over his face in the direction of his throat - but when his throat is slit, the blunt end of the machete is used to do it.

When Terri is walking back to her cabin for a knife, her pants are untied at the waist, yet when she walks in the cabin, they are tied with a bow. On the way back to Scott, they are untied again.

When Mark gets the machete in the face, the camera cuts to a far shot. In the first shot, he is in the middle of the porch and Jason is right behind him. When it shows the front, he is right on the stairs, and Jason is nowhere to be seen.

When Jason enters the cabin after killing Mark, you can see a plaid umbrella under a small table to the left of the doorway. When Vickie comes back from changing clothes, she is carrying that same umbrella.

When Paul and Ginny return from the bar, Paul turns off the car and the windshield wipers are pointing straight up. Later when Ginny returns to the car, they are down.

After Jason tears through the hood of Ginny's car with the pitchfork, Ginny opens the car door and knocks him to the ground. Immediately after she gets out of the car Jason gets up - but in the next shot, as Ginny is running you can still see Jason lying on the ground.

Paul picks Ginny up after she falls in the creek, and her head is resting on his left arm. In the next shot it shows them coming around the cabin and her head is now resting on his right arm. EXPLANATION - It was a long walk back from Jason's shack, so it's possible that he stopped and changed positions.

If Muffin came back at the end, then what dog (with a purple bow!) did Sandra and Jeff find the remains of in the woods?

LOGIC ERROR

Something that logically just doesn't make sense. These usually can't be explained.

When Alice gets in the shower, it seems the time it takes her is way too short, even for just rinsing off. She seems to end her shower right before the phone rings, and it appeared as if she was getting out anyways. EXPLANATION - Pay attention. Her opening the curtain and getting out occur at different times. The phone ringing is an audio segue that leads you to think the shots are subsequent, but she is not actually getting out when she opens the curtain. It's a "gotcha" where she looks right at the camera.

When Crazy Ralph is strangled with the wire, the wire is placed over the tree and around his neck which seems quite strange considering the tree would be too tall to reach over.

When Paul offers the counselors a last night on the town, he claims "We've only got two cars", but later Vickie goes to hers to get a hairbrush. Wouldn't they have borrowed hers instead of Ginny's old clunker?

Jason is shown dragging Vickie's very bloody body down the stairs, and yet there is no blood left on the stairs.

When Ginny is hiding in front of the car her head is visible above the hood (see her shadow on top of it), where Jason could see it from where he is walking.

When Jason enters Ginny's cabin, all that is shown is his feet. After running through rain and mud, he leave no tracks whatsoever, not even wet spots.

What happened to the rest of the counselors at the bar? Did they stay out the entire night? Not one of them is seen at the camp in the morning. EXPLANATION - The drunken bastards stayed out all night at a bar somewhere in town. (Great bunch of counselors!)

TECHNICAL ERROR

A technical element is visible or audible, such as a microphone shadow or stunt pad.

In the prologue, when Alice is scared by a cat "jumping" in the window it is apparent the cat was actually thrown through the window by a crew member.

Also when Jason slits Scott's throat the machete cuts his neck straight across - yet the wound is diagonal.

During the bar segment, the band is playing an instrumental number, although in one shot the frontman can be seen singing "silent" lyrics into his microphone.

When Ginny is in her red VW bug trying to get it started, you can see the reflection of Jason's sack in the front windshield as he waits for his cue to jump up.

Also in Ginny's cabin, you can see the mic wire's shadow on the floor when Jason starts walking towards the cots.

When Ginny moves to hit Jason with the machete, he deflects it with the pickaxe. The machete hits the shrine where Terri's body is lying, and her corpse flinches!

SEQUEL CONTINUITY

Something in the film contradicts one of the earlier ones. These contribute to the screwed-up timeline. When logical, possible explanations are included.

Jason was still 11 at the end of the original when he emerged from the lake (after twenty or so years). If there were only five years in between the first and second films, how could Jason have become full grown - especially since he hadn't grown at all while in the lake? EXPLANATION - Alice was not physically attacked by Jason, it was a dream or psychic vision.
