agreed with stefKat, i first saw my first friday movie at 7 years old, and i loved them back then, my parents explained me the difference of fictional and reality, and it never affected me in any negative ways...its just entertainment, and i still think that way.... it does depend on the childs maturity and understanding...

I watch horror film since I was 4 years & im still normal. Back then I saw all these films from 4 to 10 years old I saw Pet Sematary, Hellraiser, Halloween 1, 4 & 5, Carrie, Psycho 1, 2 & 3, Evil Dead 2, It, Child's Play 1 & 2, The Thing, The Omen, The Silents of the Lambs, A nightmare on ELM street the first 5 & not least Friday the 13th parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 & 8. But before you let your child watch a horror film it is important that you explaned to the child like what right & wrong & what real & fictional. I know this person who is the same age as me but back then when he was around 7 years old he watch his first horror film it was Halloween but his mum or dad did not explaned to him what right & wrong, what real & what fictional & after he saw that film he just decided one day to copy Halloween he took a kitchen knife & almost stab & killed his older sister. Years later I ask him why did you do it?& he said to me Halloween was his first horror film he watch as his dad just let him watch it with out even explaneing to him. See how things can go wrong very easily so please be careful before you let your kids watch a horror film.

It's tough to say. I was 8 when started watching them on USA Up All Night. My parents were pretty cool about it since a lot of the violence and all of the nudity was cut out. I think the nudity bothered parents more when I was young. Nowadays people are so concerned that watching these movies will harm your child or make them a bad person. I've also watched professional wrestling since I was 6 and have never been in a fight in my life. I don't believe that these movies or any violent forms of entertainment are to blame as much as bad or lack of parenting. If they are old enough to understand that it's just a movie and that Jason doesn't really exist, I see no problem in showing F13 to them.
